The Huntsville Festival of the arts held its 3rd annual Festival of Music on March 25th and 26th, 2025. Modeled on the Kiwanis Music Festival, the Huntsville Festival of Music offers competitive and non-competitive adjudication in piano, voice and instrumental categories.  Festival participants are provided an opportunity to perform their musical pieces and receive constructive feedback from experienced musician adjudicators. This feedback provides a significant learning opportunity helping performers develop as musicians. The festival is open to participation from musicians of all ages is this year involved well over 120 participants and two choirs.

The Huntsville Community Choir helped sponsor this years’ festival and together with the Trinity United Church Choir also participated in adjudicated performances. Both choir scored near perfect performances in their respective categories earning a Gold Certificate at the festival.

Beyond their technical skill, there was a palpable sense of joy and connection in their performance. Their faces reflected the emotion of the music, their eyes communicating with each other and with the conductor. It was clear they were not just singing notes, but telling a story, sharing a profound musical experience. Congratulations to the performers!

The sold-out performances of Handel's "Messiah" last Christmas in both Parry Sound and Huntsville proved that it continues to be a beloved Christmas tradition, inviting generations to share in its beauty and significance.

Handel's Messiah Performance in Huntsville this Christmas

The Huntsville Community Choir and Parry Sound’s Whispering River Orchestra and Chorus will present the timeless tradition of performing Handel's "Messiah" at Christmas. The Huntsville performance will be on December 20^th at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. A Parry Sound performance is on December 21^st at the Charles W. Stockey Centre in Parry Sound.

Lena Brubacher, a recent graduate from Huntsville High School, has been honoured with the 2024 Huntsville Community Choir Vocal Award.

The Huntsville Community Choir’s June 11th meeting marked the season's end. New roles: Carmen Pimentel for Fundraising, Leslie Buckle as Director/Secretary. Rehearsals start September 10, 2024. New website and logo!

After a scheduling conflict on April 16th, Jeanette McCullough led the Choir to perform "Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel" at the festival, earning the Award of Excellence for 2024.

Our choir supported the Huntsville Festival of Music, performing "Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel" and "The Ground" on March 26, 2024. We earned a Gold Distinction with a score of 91%, inspiring us to continue our musical journey.
